Diet Tips For Weight Loss

Dieting does not have to be complicated.  It also does not need to be unhealthy.  You can lose pounds, inches, and body fat while maintaining your health.

1.  Low-calorie foods are nutritious.

It is foolish to sacrifice your health to lose weight, and it is unnecessary, too.  The most nutritious foods are low in calories, and easily fit into a weight loss diet.

You can enjoy nearly unlimited fruits and vegetables.  Choose lean meat, fish, eggs, and skinless poultry as sources of protein.  Eat fiber-rich foods, such as whole grains, and low-fat dairy products.

The best beverage for health and weight loss contains no calories at all.  If you do not like plain water, try a few drops of lemon juice to change the taste.

2.  Leave empty calories out of your diet.

If you are not familiar with this concept, empty calories are foods and beverages that lack nutrition but are high in calories.  You may be consuming these products on a regular basis.

Sugary snacks and treats, soda pop, and alcohol are some examples.  It should not take long for you to appreciate the benefits of a diet without empty calories.

3.  The way you cook and serve food makes a difference.

When you add butter, cooking oil, or margarine for cooking, you are adding hundreds of unnecessary calories each day.  Choose different methods of cooking that do not require fat.  If you do need to fry, use a plain cooking spray.  It will stop food from sticking to the pan without adding hundreds of calories.

Condiments can add calories, too.  If you want to flavor your food, use lemon juice or natural spices.  You may even find food tastes better without dressings, mayonnaise, and other high-calorie products.

4.  You can resist temptation.

When you are trying to lose weight, you may see temptation wherever you go.  You can be prepared for this in advance, so you do not eat high-calorie foods.

One approach is to always have a low-calorie or calorie-free product on hand.  Carry a packet of mints, gum, or fresh vegetable sticks in your pocket.  Whether you are going to work, running errands, or visiting a friend, it can help you avoid sweets, desserts, and junk food.

5.  Do not expect overnight results.

Healthy weight loss is gradual and permanent, not fast and temporary.  If you start with these tips, you will have the results you want.
